Halloween events dominate this week

Mark your calendar for a number of city-sponsored Halloween events scheduled to take place later this week in Biloxi.

Here is the spooktacular event lineup.

Thursday, Oct. 27: 8th Annual Halloween Spectacular,  9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Biloxi Civic Center 578 Howard Ave. The free event is open to ages 50 and older and is themed Midnight Experience. Costumes are encouraged. Details: 228-388-7170

Friday, Oct. 28: Special Needs Halloween Costume Ball, 6 – 9 p.m. Event includes a costume contest, music, and food. Security will be provided. Open to all ages with physical and mental disabilities. Admission is free. See the flyer

Saturday, Oct. 29: Halloween on Howard, 5 – 6:30 p.m. Howard Avenue from MLK Jr. Boulevard to Porter Avenue. Free drive-thru trick-or-treating event. Vehicles enter Howard Avenue from MLK Jr. Boulevard and travel west to Porter Avenue while trick-or-treating from their vehicle. See the flyer

News & notes: weekly report, city council, market festival, Beauvoir Road

The week that was: Last week, the Fire Department answered 151 calls for service, including 100 medical emergencies and ten fires; the Police Department handled 1,329 calls for service; and the Community Development Department issued 84 building permits with a construction valuation of more than $8 million. Council meeting: The Biloxi City Council will holds its next meeting on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi City Hall. To see the agenda, click here.

The Biloxi Community Market Festival is this Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the I-110 overpass on Howard Avenue. There will be live entertainment, hourly giveaways, and themed activities. Free admission. See the flyer

Traffic update:  All lanes of Beauvoir Road will be closed at U.S. 90 to through traffic from Nov. 1, 2022 to Feb. 1, 2023. Businesses on Beauvoir Road will still be accessible from Pass Road.
