Men’s Tennis is 14th in ITA poll

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College men’s tennis team will start the 2023 ranked 14th in the country.

The Bulldogs are the highest-ranked MACCC squad in the first ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. They are one spot ahead of rivals Jones and two ahead of Meridian. Itawamba is ranked 20th, Copiah-Lincoln 23rd and Northwest Mississippi 25th.

Gulf Coast is scheduled to open the season Thursday when Meridian visits the MGCCC Tennis Complex for a non-conference match. First serves will be at 1 p.m.

Paul Gayk (So., Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany/Berufskolleg Lehnerstrasse) is the sixth-ranked singles player in the country. He and Owen Stice (Fr., Atlanta, Ga./Laurel Springs) are seventh in doubles.
