Senate Armed Services Committee advances multiple defense department civilian nominations

The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved several nominations for key civilian positions within the Department of Defense. The committee voted this week to advance the following individuals:

Mr. Michael D. Payne was nominated to serve as Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation at the Department of Defense.

Mr. John Noh was selected for the position of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs.

Mr. Timothy D. Dill was nominated as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

The Honorable Robert P. Kadlec received a nomination for Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Deterrence, Chemical, and Biological Defense Policy and Programs.

Dr. Maurice L. Todd was chosen to be Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness.

Mr. Marc J. Berkowitz was nominated as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy.

Dr. Joseph S. Jewell is set to become Assistant Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology.

Mr. James R. Caggy will be considered for Assistant Secretary of the Defense for Mission Capabilities.

Mr. Charles L. Young III was nominated as General Counsel of the Department of the Army.

Mr. Brendan P. Rogers is up for Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment.

Mr. William K. Lane III is nominated to serve as General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force.

Mr. Michael J. Borders, Jr., was selected as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment.

Finally, Mr. David E. Beck was nominated to be Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs at the National Nuclear Security Administration.

According to a statement from the committee, “All nominations were immediately reported to the Floor following the Committee’s action.”
