Senate panel advances four Mississippi judicial and attorney nominees

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker announced that four nominees from Mississippi have advanced in the Senate confirmation process. The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nominations of Mississippi Supreme Court Justices Robert Chamberlin and James Maxwell for positions on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. Additionally, James ‘Baxter’ Kruger and Scott Leary were approved as nominees for United States Attorney for Mississippi’s southern and northern districts.

Senator Wicker stated, “I am pleased that President Trump’s nominations to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi and for the state’s U.S. Attorneys have passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. Justices Chamberlin and Maxwell and Messrs Kruger and Leary are highly-qualified individuals. They will uphold the law, defend the Constitution, and serve Mississippi well. I look forward to voting for their confirmations on the Senate floor.”

The nominees now await a full vote by the Senate.
