Later that day, he continued documenting his journey on the Amtrak Mardi Gras train. At 19:12 UTC, he wrote: “Pascagoula is the last Mississippi stop on the Mardi Gras rail. It’s been a great day on the Amtrak train! https://t.co/Fr104IuHVR”.

At 19:42 UTC, Senator Wicker announced his arrival at the final destination of the Mardi Gras Service in Mobile, Alabama. He stated: “The end of the Mardi Gras Service is in Mobile, Alabama. It was great to join the people of Mobile for a wonderful celebration of the Gulf Coast! https://t.co/wKkzcXFS4T”.

Senator Roger Wicker represents Mississippi in the U.S. Senate and has supported transportation initiatives such as Amtrak’s expansion along the Gulf Coast. The restoration of passenger rail service between New Orleans and Mobile has been seen as a significant development for regional connectivity and economic growth after its suspension following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
