Senator Roger Wicker, a Republican representing Mississippi and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, recently addressed topics ranging from national defense spending to support for religious communities and international protests in a series of posts on his social media account.

On January 8, 2026, Senator Wicker commented on President Trump’s budget proposal, stating, “President Trump’s proposed $1.5T budget would mark the largest peacetime buildup in decades. It would provide unmatched security for the USA in this increasingly dangerous time. This is how we achieve peace through strength. I applaud the president’s vision and stand ready to”.

Three days later, on January 11, 2026, he expressed solidarity with members of Beth Israel Congregation following an attack on their place of worship: “Our hearts are with the members of Beth Israel Congregation. We stand together with them as do all the caring people of Mississippi. We denounce violence and find attacks on places of worship especially despicable.

Senator Wicker has served Mississippi in the U.S. Senate since December 2007 after previously serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and Mississippi State Senate (official website). He leads efforts related to national defense as chair of the Armed Services Committee and has authored legislation such as the SHIPS Act to advance U.S. naval capabilities (official website).
