George County Sheriff's Office - According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2020, 10,893 Unbuckled Passenger Vehicle Occupants Were Killed in Crashes in the United States

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2020, 10,893 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants were killed in crashes in the United States. Among the young adults (18 to 34) killed, more than half (60%) were completely unrestrained — one of the highest percentages for all age groups. Buckling up is not a one-time conversation—it’s ongoing. Set the example by always wearing your seat belt, and remind your teens buckling up is the law.

The George County Sheriff's Office will be participating in the annual Click It or Ticket Campaign May 23-June 5, 2022. Patrol Deputies will be performing stops and safety checkpoints around the county, to help keep travelers safe. Take the time to make sure you and your loved ones are properly restrained, and avoid not only the financial impact of the ticket, but the possibly fatal consequences of not buckling up.
