We will open the Poplarville Community Saferoom located at 124 Rodeo Street and the Picayune Community Saferoom located at 501 Laurel Street on Thursday at 4:00 PM, in anticipation of dangerous prolonged cold weather, as a warming center. They will remain open until the dangerous cold weather passes (through Monday 12/26).
A warming center is a short-term emergency shelter that operates when temperatures or a combination of precipitation, wind chill, wind and temperature become dangerously inclement, to prevent death or injury from exposure to the elements.
Single-use blankets will be available. Pets are not allowed. Please bring anything else you may need food/water etc.
