Blake Hooks, Marcavia Shavers named Wildcats of the Week

Pearl River baseball's Blake Hooks (Petal) and women's basketball's Marcaiva Shavers (Biloxi) have been named Wildcats of the Week for their stellar performances a week ago.

BLAKE HOOKS

Hooks earns the award after being a standout at both the plate and on the mound for Pearl River last week across games against Coastal Alabama South and Pensacola State.

In the batter's box, Hooks finished the week 6-for-10 with three RBIs, three runs and three stolen bases. He also doubled twice. The sidewinder was also great on the hill for the Wildcats, pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run. He struck out four batters.

MARCAVIA SHAVERS

Shavers takes home the designation after a great week in the paint for the Wildcats.

The sophomore center began the week by scoring nine points, picking up eight rebounds and plucking away three passes. Later that week in a road contest against Northeast, Shavers scored 12 points, grabbed seven boards, assisted on two baskets and picked up one steal.
