The Biloxi Parks & Recreation Department is looking for its newest Sports Hall of Fame members, but time is running out.
If you know a retired athlete that contributed to the betterment of athletics in Biloxi or a coach or individual who has played a supporting role for more than a decade, complete an application and turn it into the Parks & Rec office by Friday, June 2.
Nominees must be retired at least three years if an athlete or competitor or have completed at least 15 years of service as a coach or supporter of Biloxi athletics, must have demonstrated good citizenship both in school and after leaving school, and must have contributed to the betterment of athletics in the City of Biloxi as a player, coach, or any supporting role of superior accomplishment.
Applications may be acquired weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Parks & Recreation office, 377 Hiller Drive, or online at biloxi.ms.us/sportshalloffame.
All supporting documentation must be submitted with a completed application.
Inductees are chosen based on, but not limited to, statistical performance, individual achievement, leadership, citizenship, and community service. The number of inductees each year is solely the discretion of the selection committee.

City Council: The Biloxi City Council meets at 1:30 p.m. today to address nearly three dozen items, including a first look at proposed ordinance changes for special events, parades, mobile food vending, recreational vehicle park, and storage of recreational equipment or mobile homes. Fallen Officer Ceremony: On Wednesday, May 17, the Biloxi Police Department will hold its annual Fallen Officer Ceremony at 10 a.m. on the front steps of the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, 170 Porter Ave. The ceremony, which is open to the public, is to pay homage to all law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
