What background was most represented in George County schools in 2019-2020 school year?

Of the 4,152 students enrolled in George County schools in 2019-2020, 85.1% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among George County students.

This is a 0.4% decrease from the previous school year.

George County High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of George County schools showed 85.1% students were White, 8% were Black or African American, 3.2% were Two or More Races and 1.6% were Hispanic or Latino.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.
