(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –On June 26, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is allocating funds from the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program to eligible states. Mississippi is receiving $1.2 billion in BEAD funding. This funding will be used to deploy or develop broadband networks so everyone can access dependable, inexpensive, and high-speed online services.
“I was the only Congressman from Mississippi in the House of Representatives to cast a ballot in favor of the infrastructure spending package. I am proud to have taken a stand for the people of my state and to have been an advocate for responsible investment in our nation's future. Broadband access is essential for our country's progress, and this spending package is going to get us off the bottom and bring us forward into an era of greater technological advancement. I will keep working hard for the constituents of the 2nd Congressional District of Mississippi to ensure that they have access to the essential high-speed broadband infrastructure.”
