White had the largest percent of student body in Harrison County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 44.8% of the 14,318 students enrolled in Harrison County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 6.1% decrease from the previous school year.

Harrison Central High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,513 students.

A snapshot of Harrison County School District schools showed 44.8% of students were white, 30.7% were Black, 5.6% were Hispanic, 5.2% were multiracial, and 1% Asian.

Harrison County School District roughly covers 19 schools within Harrison County and has a main office in Gulfport.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
