2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Long Beach School District students?

White students made up 67.6% of the 2,915 students enrolled in Long Beach School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 0.4% increase over the previous school year.

Long Beach Senior High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 907 students.

A snapshot of Long Beach School District schools showed 67.6% of students were white, 16% were Black, 11.5% were multiracial, 2.3% were Hispanic, and 1.2% Asian.

Long Beach School District roughly covers five schools within Harrison County and has a main office in Long Beach.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
