What background was most represented in Moss Point Separate School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 73% of the 1,579 students enrolled in Moss Point Separate School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 2.7% increase over the previous school year.

Moss Point High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 475 students.

A snapshot of Moss Point Separate School District schools showed 73% of students were Black, 16.5% were white, 5.7% were Hispanic, and 3.8% multiracial.

Moss Point Separate School District roughly covers four schools within Jackson County and has a main office in Moss Point.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
