White had the largest percent of student body in Poplarville Separate School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 84.4% of the 1,830 students enrolled in Poplarville Separate School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 7.3% increase over the previous school year.

Poplarville Jr. Senior High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 537 students.

A snapshot of Poplarville Separate School District schools showed 84.4% of students were white, 8.9% were Black, 3.6% were multiracial, and 0.5% Hispanic.

Poplarville Separate School District roughly covers four schools within Pearl River County and has a main office in Poplarville.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
