2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Stone County School District students?

White students made up 56.4% of the 2,411 students enrolled in Stone County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 22.2% decrease from the previous school year.

Stone High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 677 students.

A snapshot of Stone County School District schools showed 56.4% of students were white, 16% were Black, 2.9% were multiracial, and 0.8% Hispanic.

Stone County School District roughly covers three schools within Stone County and has a main office in Wiggins.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
