Census Bureau: 2.9% of people in Pearl River County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 55,972 citizens living in Pearl River County in 2021, 97.1% said they were only one race, while 2.9% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Pearl River County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 82.5% or 46,157 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 12.8% and totaled 7,142 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Pearl River County is 0.5% higher than the state average, which stands at 2.4%.
