11.3% of citizens unemployed in George County in 2021

George County recorded an unemployment rate of 11.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 1,047 people out of the 24,260 living in George County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in George County has decreased compared to the 12.6% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in George County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.8%.

Of the 8,179 people who had a job during that time, 24 were employed in the Armed Forces and 8,155 belonged to the civilian labor force.
