Congressman Mike Ezell from Mississippi's 4th District has been appointed as Vice Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for the 119th Congress. The announcement was made by Chairman Sam Graves of Missouri's 6th District.
Ezell expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am deeply honored to be selected by Chairman Sam Graves to serve as his Vice Chair for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee." He highlighted the committee's focus on initiatives that boost the economy and strengthen communities, such as improving natural disaster response and enhancing transportation infrastructure.
Chairman Graves praised Ezell's dedication and knowledge, saying, "Congressman Ezell is a hard-working and knowledgeable Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and I am excited to have him serve as the Committee’s Vice Chairman this Congress." Graves outlined a busy agenda that includes passing a major multi-year surface transportation bill aimed at improving roads and bridges across America. Other priorities include addressing water resources infrastructure, pipeline safety programs, and supporting the United States Coast Guard.
As Vice Chair, Ezell will ensure South Mississippi remains represented in discussions. The committee plans to draft the Water Resources Development Act to improve port and water infrastructure nationwide. Additionally, they aim to reauthorize federal highway funding legislation. This role allows Ezell to prioritize FEMA regulatory improvements for more efficient community recovery post-natural disasters.
