Congressman Mike Ezell joined other lawmakers at the White House for the signing of S.J. Res. 11, a resolution aimed at reversing restrictions on American energy production imposed by the Biden administration's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). The resolution targets regulations that limited energy production on the Outer Continental Shelf.
Ezell expressed his support for the resolution, stating, "This is a great day for American energy independence and for the hardworking men and women who power our nation.” He criticized the previous rule as detrimental to energy producers and costly for families, emphasizing that overturning it would enhance energy security and economic growth in Mississippi.
Senator Kennedy also supported the move, saying, “Burdensome regulations hurt oil and gas producers’ ability to provide affordable energy and jobs to Americans. I’m thankful to President Trump for taking handcuffs off energy producers by signing my resolution law.”
Senator Hyde-Smith highlighted President Trump's role in restoring America's energy capabilities: “President Trump promised to restore America’s energy might and by signing these resolutions of disapproval he helps Congress reset policy in a way that encourages offshore oil and gas production.” She commended Trump's action as crucial in preventing future administrations from reinstating similar regulations.
The Biden-era rule was criticized for imposing excessive regulatory burdens on domestic energy producers, impacting job creation and increasing energy prices. S.J. Res. 11 received bipartisan support in Congress and aims to restore policies facilitating responsible energy development while safeguarding jobs and national security.
Ezell has been vocal about his advocacy for American energy independence, supporting measures to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and promote domestic development. He remains committed to advancing policies that lower costs for families and businesses.
