U.S. Senator Roger Wicker has expressed his support for Olivia Trusty following her confirmation by the U.S. Senate to serve as a Commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In a statement, Sen. Wicker praised Trusty’s capabilities and contributions during her tenure as a staffer.
“Congratulations to Olivia Trusty on her confirmation to serve as an FCC commissioner,” stated Sen. Wicker. He emphasized their seven-year working relationship, highlighting her expertise and leadership skills in areas relevant to the FCC’s mission.
Sen. Wicker noted Trusty’s involvement in legislative efforts that enhanced broadband mapping and directed funds effectively to expand high-speed internet access across America. Her work has also been pivotal in national security, particularly through legislation aimed at protecting domestic networks from foreign-manufactured communications equipment.
Trusty’s influence extends into spectrum policy, where she has worked with both commercial and federal entities to balance technology advancements with national security needs. “Olivia’s work has proved that the U.S. can maintain our leadership without risking national security or public safety,” added Sen. Wicker.
Acknowledging her dedication as a public servant, Sen. Wicker applauded President Trump’s decision to nominate Trusty for this role, expressing confidence in her ability to excel as an FCC commissioner despite missing her presence on his team.
