Hancock County School District - Mississippi Economics Challenge State Championship

29

Congratulations to four HHS seniors Thomas Konkel, James McCulley, Jacob Sloat, and Mackenzie Galbraith. They recently competed in the Mississippi Economics Challenge State Championship in Jackson winning the David Ricardo Division of the Challenge. Students started the challenge with an exam followed by an escape challenge, and they faced Madison Ridgeland Academy in the quiz bowl round to win the championship. Each student won a $500 scholarship to the college of their choice. Jacob Sloat was named the David Ricardo Division Student of the Year and received an additional $250 scholarship. These students are enrolled in Economics with Mr. Kevin Allemand.

These students have qualified for the semi-finals of the National Economics Challenge. The top four teams from the national semifinals earn an all-expense paid trip to New York City to compete in the National Economics Challenge National Championship.

Congratulations to all!
