White had the largest percent of student body in Stone County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 2,544 students enrolled in Stone County schools in 2019-2020, 75.6% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Stone County students.

This is a 0.2% decrease from the previous school year.

Stone High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Stone County schools showed 75.6% students were White, 19.3% were Black or African American, 2.9% were Two or More Races and 0.5% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are four schools in Stone County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
