2020-2021: What were the backgrounds of Stone County students?

Of the 2,334 students enrolled in Stone County schools in 2020-2021, 74.9% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Stone County students.

This is a 0.7% decrease from the previous school year.

Stone High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Stone County schools showed 74.9% students were White, 19.8% were Black or African American, 3.5% were Two or More Races and 0.5% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are four schools in Stone County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
