Enrollment by Ethnicity: White was most represented background in George County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 84.3% of the 4,083 students enrolled in George County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 6.1% increase over the previous school year.

George County High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,078 students.

A snapshot of George County School District schools showed 84.3% of students were white, 7.7% were Black, 4.3% were multiracial, and 2% Hispanic.

George County School District roughly covers eight schools within George County and has a main office in Lucedale.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
