Enrollment by Ethnicity: White was most represented background in Jackson County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 78.2% of the 8,823 students enrolled in Jackson County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 0.1% decrease from the previous school year.

St. Martin High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,250 students.

A snapshot of Jackson County School District schools showed 78.2% of students were white, 10.3% were Black, 4.3% were multiracial, 3.1% were Asian, and 2.5% Hispanic.

Jackson County School District roughly covers 13 schools within Jackson County and has a main office in Moss Point.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
