White had the largest percent of student body in Ocean Springs School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 72.9% of the 5,906 students enrolled in Ocean Springs School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 0.6% increase over the previous school year.

Ocean Springs High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,845 students.

A snapshot of Ocean Springs School District schools showed 72.9% of students were white, 12.2% were Black, 5.9% were multiracial, 5.4% were Hispanic, and 2.6% Asian.

Ocean Springs School District roughly covers six schools within Jackson County and has a main office in Ocean Springs.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
