The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee concluded a full committee markup today, where members voted to pass several bipartisan bills. These include legislation led by Congressman Ezell aimed at strengthening critical infrastructure, holding fraudulent actors in the transportation sector accountable, and improving the efficiency of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), among other objectives.

"As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’m proud that we’ve worked together to pass several bipartisan bills that will truly make a difference in the lives of Americans," Ezell stated. "These measures are designed to strengthen our critical infrastructure, hold fraudulent actors in the transportation sector accountable, and shore up the security of all Federal buildings and facilities. I'm proud to have helped lead these efforts through the Committee, and I look forward to ensuring that they cross the finish line for South Mississippians. These pieces of legislation reflect our shared commitment to delivering real, lasting solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and reliability for all Americans."

The committee voted to advance several bills to the House Floor for further consideration:

- H.R. 8505, the Household Good Shipping Consumer Protection Act (sponsored by Congresswoman Norton (DC-At-Large) and co-led by Congressman Ezell (MS-04)), aims to clarify that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has tools to protect consumers from fraud perpetrated by residential moving companies in interstate transportation.

- H.R. 9541, the Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience (POWER) Act of 2024 (sponsored by Congresswoman Hoyle (OR-04) and co-led by Congressman Ezell (MS-04)), seeks to provide more eligibility and flexibility for public power utilities to invest in long-term hazard mitigation and grid resilience solutions.

- H.R. 9037, the Federal Emergency Mobilization Accountability (FEMA) Workforce Planning Act (sponsored by Congressman Carter (LA-2) and co-led by Congressman Ezell (MS-04)), addresses longstanding workforce challenges experienced by FEMA.

- H.R. 8530, the Improving Federal Building Security Act of 2024 (sponsored by Congressman Ezell), aims to enhance federal building security based on recommendations from the Federal Protective Service.
